Snollygoster

Created by Snollygoster

Snollygoster is a 2-4 player space themed card game of survival, teamwork, and a little bit of sabotage. You and your awful teammates are stranded on an alien planet and need to escape before food runs out. Secretly, though, everyone is carrying out hidden agendas that encourage teamwork... and treachery. Turn after turn, tensions rise as the food supply shrinks and distrust grows. Team players survive. Snollygosters win.

What We've Been Up To
over 6 years ago – Sat, Feb 24, 2018 at 09:44:35 PM

Hey folks! It’s about time we hit you with an update! Sorry, it’s been so long, but the truth is nothing particularly exciting has been happening behind the scenes. It’s been a whole lot of busy work, paperwork, and emails. We were holding out for our physical proofs to show off, but we haven’t received them yet and decided to save it for another update.

First and foremost, if you’ve filled out your survey, you’re good to go. If you have any doubts, feel free to reach out to us at support[at]snollygostergame[dot]com and we’ll confirm your survey. More than likely, though, you’re fine. We haven’t encountered a single problem yet.

So what have we been up to? QUITE A BIT. Immediately after the Kickstarter ended, we went right to work. The biggest items on the agenda were the expansions. Those needed to be fully fleshed out because they were a stretch goal for us, so they still needed to be polished and finalized. We also took additional time to further fine tune the base game, and make sure all the expansions played together nicely. We did more playtesting, tweaking, and adjusting until we were completely satisfied with everything.

At that point, we had to finalize all of the rules and have them scrutinized for any errors in spelling, grammar, logic, etc. We also completed all designs for the box art that fit within our manufacturer’s specifications and complied with US, EU, and International regulations.

All of this was completed by December. Then came the grueling back and forth between us and our manufacturer to make sure the cards, manuals, and boxes looked exactly the way we want them to. This has honestly been the longest, slowest stage so far. We received digital proofs earlier this year, which we went over and gave the okay, and now we’re waiting on said physical proofs to give the okay to print. We could have opted to forgo a physical proof (we actually paid a good amount to receive a physical proof), but we want to make sure everything looks JUST RIGHT before we commit to printing.

Tyler, my brother, takes care of all communication between us and all of the businesses we work with. Well, the madman went and had himself a baby in the midst of all of this! Poor planning on his part! (Congratulations, bro) So, admittedly, he’s been a little swamped.

So that’s where we’re at. We’ve been ready to go for quite some time, but we’re at the mercy of our printer for now. Ad Magic is our printer and they have a very proven track record. Just like you, though, we wish this could all be going a little faster. Our initial ETA was late March which we pushed like hell for. With things at their current pace, April or May is looking like a more likely ship date, unfortunately. We won’t have a more specific time range until we get those got dang physical proofs! We apologize for the delay, but we want you to know that things are going smoothly overall. Your generous pledges have already been put to good use. Kickstarter has been PAID. Our distributor has been PAID. The printer has been PAID. Most of the shipping has been PAID. Taxes have been PAID. Legal fees have been PAID. The angry troll that hides under our bridge has been PAID.

I might as well show off some designs from the expansions in the meantime. Conjuring up artwork for the NSFL expansion was quite a bit of fun and testing was a riot. Having the words “Anal Probe” and “Cripple” thrown around so casually and frequently had us all laughing like idiots. I think I’ll put together a separate update that goes far more in-depth into the expansions and how they work. I know not everyone got the expansions so I don’t want to dwell on them TOO much, but I’ll say that they’re super entertaining and fundamentally change up the game in a unique way.

As always, huge thanks to all of you for supporting this project. It’s been one of the hardest and rewarding projects I’ve ever been a part of. I know these projects tend to have a long tail after they “end,” so thanks for your patience and understanding. Here’s hoping for an update in the near future with those GOSH. DANG. PROOFS!

Best,

JL
